Established in 1888 as 'The Peoples Park', Centennial Parklands is one of the world's leading public parklands in Sydney. Enjoy bird watching, horse riding, bike riding and self-guided nature and heritage walks in the Park. Choose to stay or celebrate at The Residences, and let the Park be your private parkland.
The Residences supports Centennial Parklands Foundation. The Foundation is an independent charitable organisation established to raise funds and awareness to support and enhance the magnificent parks of Centennial Parklands.
The Residences has a history of involvement with writers and artists, and in particular the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators. It hosted Writers in the Park which attracted 1000's of visitors, author talks and SCBWI events. SCBWI Australia East & New Zealand is a not-for-profit organisation supporting children's book authors, illustrators, literacy and the Australian and New Zealand children's publishing industry. Illustrations by renowned Australian illustrators are hanging in the study of The Superintendent's Residence.
The Residences are active supporters of Room to Read and continue to hold events for Room to Read. This organisation seeks to transform the lives of millions of children in developing countries by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. Working in collaboration with local communities, partner organizations and governments, we develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children, and support girls to complete secondary school with the relevant life skills to succeed in school and beyond.
The Residences works with Susanne Gervay to support literacy and education. Susanne is a well-known and respected local children's author who has been awarded the Lifetime Social Justice Literature Award, by the International Literacy Association. We are proud to connect with Susanne and her work on community projects which includes her role as Ambassador for Premier's Reading Challenge, Monkey Baa Theatre, Australia Day and more.
